About Dr. Yvonne Pennington – Bio

Dr. Yvonne Pennington is a child and adult psychologist, marriage and family therapist, registered play therapist, and certified Sandplay Therapist. She has been in the mental health field for forty years, presenting frequently at local, state, regional, national and international conferences. She has served on the Board of Learning Disabilities Association of Georgia, the Georgia Governor’s Advisory Panel for Educational Needs of Handicapped Children, and is currently on the Professional Advisory Board of CHADD chapters for Cobb, Cherokee, and North Atlanta, GA. Former Director of the ground-breaking Northside Child Development Institute at Northside Hospital, specializing in ADHD and other learning disabilities, Dr. Pennington offers assessment, group, family and individual therapy in her Marietta and Atlanta offices. Besides working with adults and teens with depression, anxiety, or other disorders, sShe has been offering effective, research-based parent training as part of a comprehensive treatment package for her full career. Her parent training for parenting ADHD/ODD kids consistently rivals medication in effectiveness. She holds diplomates in psychotherapy and sports psychology. She is the author of the E-book, “School Survival Skills” and the soon to be released books: “Personal Best Club: A Social Skills Workbook”, “Raising Amazing Kids: Parenting Successful Offspring, Even if One Has ADHD” and the DVD and book: Pennington Positive Parenting. She loves dance and spending time with her family, especially her two grown sons.
